Control blinds and awnings on 433 MHz

Many of the motorised awnings and roller blinds sold in Scandinavia use 433 MHz and work with RF-HUB.

Supported brands

  • Bofu — roller blinds (sold by StyraHem and others).
  • A-Ok — motorised roller blinds.
  • Other generic 433 MHz motors that follow a Somfy RTS-like protocol.

Pairing

  1. Press all the buttons on the original remote control so RF-HUB picks up the signal.
  2. If you do not have a remote control — select Bofu roller blind as the type when you create a new virtual remote control.
  3. Put the motor in learning mode (usually by pressing a button on the motor itself or holding UP on the original remote control).
  4. Click Learn in RF-HUB — the motor confirms with a beep or a short movement.

Frequency note — Somfy uses 433.42 MHz

Somfy RTS remotes transmit at 433.42 MHz, not the standard 433.92 MHz. For the hub to hear them — for example when learning a remote — the setting Extended bandwidth (Settings → Advanced) must be enabled. It is on by default; if it has been turned off, the hub can still control Somfy motors but will not receive Somfy remotes. See Extended bandwidth — receive devices on other frequencies.

RF-HUB becomes its own remote — with its own rolling code

When you pair RF-HUB with a Somfy motor, the hub is added as a new, separate remote control on the motor, with its own rolling code. That is how it should be: every remote (physical or hub) keeps its own code counter, and the motor can have several remotes paired at once.

  • Always add the hub as a new remote (following the steps above). Do not try to reuse an existing remote's identity — the rolling code would fall out of sync and your physical remote would stop working.
  • Your existing remote keeps working exactly as before, alongside the hub.
  • The hub can read your existing remote — it sees when you press its buttons (handy for automations and status) — but it cannot control the motor through the physical remote's identity. Control always happens with the hub's own remote.
